Support Those Who Support You

As sports competitions are suspended momentarily it is vital to support your club sponsors, suppliers, and local community. For many years, sponsors have provided many different forms of goods and services that has contributed to club success, by helping financially and sustaining operations. Sport sponsorship is beneficial for both parties and it brings about a positive effect on the club and community. Now amidst all this uncertainty and chaos, we need to nurture these long-term relationships by showcasing and supporting your club sponsors within your local community. It is a case of having a community focus and being incredibly creative about making the best of social media and digital marketing to fill the void for sponsors. Here are some practical tips and initiatives we have seen through social media of many clubs across the Goulburn Valley region providing support to local sponsors, suppliers and community.Tips:

  • Share or post what your sponsors, suppliers, or local businesses updates are during this time. Many cafes and pubs have been posting information regarding take-away meals or local businesses informing the community if they are still open for business.

  • Online raffles or member draws. Instead of a weekly cash draw, that is jackpotted if someone isn’t there, draw one member out each week that wins vouchers to use at businesses that support and/or sponsor the club.

  • Sponsor Profiling. Highlight a few key points about who your sponsors are and what they do. Share this through your different communication platforms e.g. newsletter, social media etc.

  • Allocate a sponsor per player and promote player profiles through social media.

  • Contact your sponsors and ask “how can we help you now?”

It is an opportunity for clubs and sponsors to improve collaboration. We encourage you to give some or all of these tips a go or provide us with your creative ideas on supporting club sponsors and suppliers during this time.
