Marketing Tips
Below are 5 helpful marketing ideas for community sport teams on and off the web.
1. Be Present on Social Media
Social media platforms allow the community to have a direct connection to the local team, interact with players and club members as well as receive important news and updates. Besides social medias wide reach, what’s great about social media platforms such as Facebook is that it is free to use. Therefore, free social media platforms are an inexpensive way for networking and team promotion.
2. Build an E-Newsletter on Mailchimp
Email is a great tool to keep players, members and volunteers informed about upcoming events, games and everything else that is going on. Therefore, it is an effective channel to stay directly in touch with your players, members and supporters.
3. Leverage Word of MouthDepending on the size of your team, having access to a large extended network of friends, families and acquaintances of your club members can provide many benefits. People are often happy to lend their support. Therefore, try to involve the broader community by asking players, club members and volunteers to spread the word about upcoming ideas, events and games.
4. Involve Local MediaGetting your stories into local radio, newspapers and magazines is all about cultivating relationships. Journalists and editors are constantly looking for new stories and material to fill their slots. Therefore, your club can help them out with some local sport news.5. Give Back to The CommunityA lot of support will come from your local environment. The people you and others on your team know personally will most often be your biggest support. Therefore, supporting others that support you, by doing a good deed and talking about it will foster positive relationships. Some ideas are to volunteer at a local event, clean up a local garden/park or promote your sponsors.
