Welcome everyone to the first edition of the Valley Sport monthly e-newsletter for 2022. The Valley Sport team hope that you had fantastic Christmas and New Year period and were able to find some time to relax with family and friends.The start of a new year sees our Summer sports move towards finals, while Winter clubs are preparing for their upcoming 2022 seasons. Each e-newsletter will provide you with the latest information from the sport and recreation industry, including resources, news, courses and the latest in grants and funding. Insights From Supporting Regional Clubs Research Interim Report
Throughout the months of August, September and early October 2021, the Valley Sport team worked in partnership with Regional Sport Victoria and seven other Regional Sports Assemblies to undertake surveys with local sporting clubs, leagues and associations to understand the issues facing community sport and recreation. The findings of these surveys highlight the current mood of grassroots, community-based sport and recreation as they face the task of operating in a “COVID-normal” society. From 400 surveys the following was uncovered:
37% of respondents stated COVID-19 uncertainty is their major concern
14% are most concerned about membership retention
12% were concerned with a lack of volunteers
17% had serious concerns for the mental health of their members

Young Volunteer: 12 to 25 years
Adult Volunteer: 26 years and over
Volunteer Team: A group of 2 or more people
Long Serving Volunteer: 15 years or more service
Pandemic Response: Special award category for 2022

Current Restrictions: From 11:59pm Thursday 18 November 2021

For the physical recreation and community sport sector this means:
Venue caps and density quotients no longer apply at physical recreation premises (indoors and outdoors) with vaccination requirements applying to staff and patrons older than 12 years and 2 months
For community sport the vaccination requirements do not apply in relation to any indoor space or outdoor space in a physical recreation premises if that space is being operated only for the purpose of conducting a community sport activity.
Community sport is still required to have COVID Check-in Marshals to record attendance at the venue.
COVID Check-in Marshals are not required for unstaffed gyms and fitness centres however pre-registration of members is required to ensure facilities are only accessed by fully vaccinated people
Unstaffed outdoor physical recreation premises do not require COVID Check-in Marshals and are exempt from the vaccination requirements (e.g. an unstaffed tennis club).

Sporting Club Grants ProgramThe Sporting Club Grants Program provides funding for grassroots sport and active recreation clubs and organisations across Victoria.Funding categories are:
Category 1 - Uniforms or Equipment: Grants of up to $1,000
Category 2 - Skill Development:
Grants of up to $2,000 for clubs or organisations, or up to $5,000 for leagues, associations or organisations that collaborate with multiple organisations.
Category 3 - Operational Capacity: Grants up to $5,000 for clubs or organisations.
Clubs and organisations attempting to grow as sports and active recreation leaders, require support and development to explore new opportunities, or improve their effectiveness within their communities.

Significant Sporting Events Program The Significant sporting events program helps sporting, community and event organisations to deliver significant sporting events in Victoria. The Program has three types of grants available:Event Assistance Grants (up to $20,000)Event Development Grants (up to $150,000*)Strategic Event Planning Grants (up to $20,000)

Community Motorsport ProgramThe Community Motorsport Program is the Victorian Government’s first dedicated motorsport investment program that provides grant opportunities through two funding categories:
The Motorsport Club Assistance Category
The Infrastructure Upgrades and Equipment Category
Applicants may submit applications to multiple streams but can only receive a maximum combined grant amount of $20,000.

Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant ProgramThe Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program helps Victorian sport and active recreation community organisations replace Essential Sports Equipment that has been lost or destroyed as a consequence of unpreventable and exceptional events such as fire, flood, significant storms, theft or criminal damage.
Grants of up to $2,000 (excluding GST) are available towards the replacement cost of the lost or damaged equipment that is owned by the applicant organisation.

Community Cricket Grant Program
The $13.5 million Community Cricket Program is a state-wide competitive Victorian Government investment program that provides a range of grant opportunities across two funding streams.
The following projects may be funded under the Community Cricket Facilities stream. (see guidelines for more projects)
cricket training nets/facilities that are publicly accessible and may be multi-sport.
pavilion/clubroom developments with female friendly changerooms.
irrigation and drainage upgrades that improve capacity, inclusion or safety.
facilities on school land with confirmed community use.
new cricket pitches and/or cricket grounds (other than in exceptional circumstances outlined in Section 5).
ground upgrades that increase capacity or safety.
sports lighting that enables new programming, improves capacity, inclusion or safety. Requests for replacement of lighting with LED lights are not eligible unless part of a new lighting installation.

Golf Scholarship Program
This program supports the sport of golf in Victoria, by providing annual scholarships in three categories to encourage people to pursue careers in the golf industry:
Category 1: Golf administration up to value of $7,500
Category 2: Golf athlete (amateur or professional) up to value of $7,500
Category 3: Horticulture/golf course design/architecture, up to value of $7,500

Active Kids Grants Program
The Active Kids Grants through the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF), aims to provide every child with the active childhood they deserve! By helping your club with additional funds to supply them with the equipment they need.
Grants are for the provision of sports equipment and on-field uniforms supplied by the ASF’s partners. No cash grants are available in the 2021 Active Kids grant round.
Up to $2,500 GST inclusive (equipment only)
Up to $5,000 GST inclusive (equipment only)
$5,000-$10,000 GST inclusive (uniform only*)
Up to $10,000 GST inclusive (can be equipment and/or uniform*)

Good for Footy Gear Grant Program
The Good for Footy Gear Grant Program will provide 100 grants of up to $1600 in funding for successful teams to purchase.
Female football jumpers; and/or
Female football shorts
Grants can NOT be used for the following purchases.
Football boots
Playing equipment (e.g. footballs)
Training equipment (e.g. cones)
To be eligible to apply, Teams must be:
a female Australian Rules football team
participating in a competition affiliated with the AFL and/or state affiliate
a team with all members over the age of 12 years old
part of a registered club with an ABN number; if not an ABN holder, entrant must complete a 'Statement by Supplier Form' with the ATO located in (and/or supplies services to) Australia

Our Sporting Future Grant Program
The Our Sporting Future Program has been established to assist community sporting organisations with the implementation of small to medium sized facility development projects and development programs for new and emerging sporting organisations across the municipality.There are five funding categories:
Minor: will accommodate projects on a $1 to $1 basis requesting assistance from Council of up to, but not exceeding $15,000
Major: will accommodate projects on a $1 to $1 basis requesting assistance from the Council of up to, but not exceeding $30,000. There is no in-kind component for Major projects.
Sports Aid: will provide funding between $500 and $5,000 (without matching contributions) for the following types of projects:
Women and Girls: will provide funding towards programs that increase opportunities for women and girls in sports clubs for development programs or training between $500 and $10,000.
Youth Participation: will provide funding towards initiatives to increase participation in sport for teams/sport between sixteen and eighteen years of age where significant decrease in participation has occurred over previous 1-3 years, for between $500 and $5,000

Governance, Skills and Capacity Building Grants
This Grants program supports not-for-profit community groups and organisations, and Committees of Management within the Murrindindi Shire to meet governance requirements, develop new skills and build capacity. This includes activities that improve the ability to operate effectively, undertake future planning and support sustainability. Up to $2,000 is available.Closes: 4pm, on the last Wednesday of every month. Quick Response GrantsThe overall purpose of the grants program is to provide a funding scheme that strengthens the involvement of community organisations in the development of services, management of facilities, events, arts and culture, tourism, promotion of health, supply of equipment, promotion of environmental sustainability and infrastructure in the community. Quick Response Grants of up to $1,000 are open all year round. Sponsorship ProgramThe Sponsorship Program incorporates funding opportunities for events that compliment the focus areas identified as priorities for the Strathbogie Shire Council.Sponsorship requests of and above $1,000 and up to $5,000 are available.Applications are ongoing.
