On The Front Foot

On the Front Foot is a mental health development program designed by Valley Sport in collaboration with Rachael Willis, Principal Clinical Psychologist at Pure Empowerment.

On the Front Foot is delivered in the form of a workshop, the program is designed to educate members of local community sports clubs on how they can identify and support not only themselves but other club members that may be dealing with ill mental health.

Valley Sport is pleased to announce that from July 2022 the program is now ready for delivery.  If you have any questions or would like to express interest in hosting a workshop at your sporting club please contact [email protected]

Tackle Your Feelings Workshops

Valley Sport is excited to once again be partnered with Tackle Your Feelings for 2022.. Tackle Your Feelings is a free mental health training program available to local football netball clubs. The program strives to improve understanding and awareness of mental health as well as build skills within coaches to have conversations about mental health with their players.

Grant Writing Workshop

Monday July 4th saw Valley Sport host an online grant writing workshop for sporting clubs.

The aim of the workshop was for participants to develop a better understanding of the grant writing process and how they can write successful grants.

Strategic Planning Workshop

Earlier this year Valley Sport hosted an online strategic planning workshop for clubs.

Club representatives from across the region attended the session to learn the importance of having a strategic plan and how it can help their club, as well as the basis of developing their own strategic plan.

 New Child Safe Standards Commencing July 1 2022  

New Child Safe Standards have commenced in Victoria as of July 1. All sporting organisations that provide and operate services to children are legally required to comply with these standards.

 

The 11 standards are:

  1. Organisations establish a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.

  2. Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in organisational leadership, governance and culture.

  3. Children and young people are empowered about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.............

Valley Sport alongside AFL Goulburn Murray and Netball Victoria are excited to announce that after a few years of cancelations the Mooroopna All Abilities Football and Netball Carnival is back this September.

  • Date: Wednesday 7th September 2022

  • Time: 10am - 2pm

  • Location: Mooroopna Recreation Reserve

  • Cost: Netball - $35 per team. Football - $60 per team

Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant ProgramThe Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program provides grants to assist Aboriginal Victorians to participate in Aboriginal sporting carnivals, buy sports uniforms and equipment, as well as funding for travel and accommodation expenses for athletes to compete in state and national competitions.The program has three categories:Category 1 - Aboriginal Sporting Carnivals: Grants up to $1,500 for travel and accommodation costs for teams to participate in State-wide or National Carnivals.

Category 2 - Uniforms or Equipment: Grants of up to $1,000 for individuals, teams, clubs and associations to purchase sporting uniforms and/or equipment.

Category 3 - Athlete Participation Support: Grants of up to $750 for athletes and coaches to assist with travel and accommodation costs to compete or train in regional, state and national competitions or representative teams.Closes: 16 August 2022To find out more information, please visit: https://valleysport.net.au/aboriginal-sport-participation-grant-program-2/

Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant ProgramThe Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program helps Victorian sport and active recreation community organisations replace Essential Sports Equipment that has been lost or destroyed as a consequence of unpreventable and exceptional events such as fire, flood, significant storms, theft or criminal damage.

Grants of up to $2,000 (excluding GST) are available towards the replacement cost of the lost or damaged equipment that is owned by the applicant organisation.  

The Our Sporting Future Program has been established to assist community sporting organisations with the implementation of small to medium sized facility development projects and development programs for new and emerging sporting organisations across the municipality.There are five funding categories:

  • Minor: will accommodate projects on a $1 to $1 basis requesting assistance from Council of up to, but not exceeding $15,000

  • Major: will accommodate projects on a $1 to $1 basis requesting assistance from the Council of up to, but not exceeding $30,000. There is no in-kind component for Major projects.

  • Sports Aid: will provide funding between $500 and $5,000 (without matching contributions) for the following types of projects:

  • Women and Girls: will provide funding towards programs that increase opportunities for women and girls in sports clubs for development programs or training between $500 and $10,000.

  • Youth Participation: will provide funding towards initiatives to increase participation in sport for teams/sport between sixteen and eighteen years of age where significant decrease in participation has occurred over previous 1-3 years, for between $500 and $5,000

The TAC Club Rewards Program is for community football and netball clubs that encourages active participation in the mission to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on our roads. It takes all of us to make this happen. That’s why we’re asking AFL Victoria football and netball clubs to help TAC encourage everyone to do their bit, by rewarding those who are as passionate about the vision as the TAC.AFL Victoria aligned clubs across regional Victoria and in the metropolitan leagues can take part and earn up to $10,000 in funding by promoting road safety to their community.
