Grant Writing Workshop: Articulating the Value of Your Sport

This session will support sport organisations to brush-up on their skills for grant writing, communicating to Boards, members and improve stakeholder relationships. This will be an interactive workshop, providing an overview of tools such as program logics, theories of change and impact statements to refine your thinking and provide the framework for grant writing or impact reporting. We will also provide some TOP TIPS relevant to Victorian sport.
Topics covered include:
Program logics and theories of change for sport programs and experiences (to understand how this change can be achieved and what would be important to show in an application).

New Financial Reporting Revenue Thresholds
New regulations for incorporated associations were introduced last year that aligned tiers and revenue thresholds with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
The new financial reporting tiers come into effect from 1 July 2024 and may affect your association’s reporting requirements, depending on which tier it falls under. Your association’s tier is defined by its total annual revenue.
For an association’s financial year ending on or after 1 July 2024, it will fall into one of the following:
Tier 1 – less than $500,000
Tier 2 – $500,000 to $3 million
Tier 3 – more than $3 million.
Additional reporting requirements continue to apply to tier 2 and 3 associations:
Tier 2 associations must have financial statements reviewed by an independent accountant.
Tier 3 associations must have financial statements audited by an independent auditor.
Both tier 2 and 3 associations must continue to lodge a copy of their financial statements with Consumer Affairs Victoria.
Regardless of your association’s tier, you must continue to prepare financial statements after the end of the financial year and present them at an annual general meeting.
Visit Consumer Affairs Victoria for more information on financial reporting requirements.
A New Online System For Incorporated Associations
Later this year, incorporated associations will be moving to a new version of our myCAV online system. This will provide a more convenient way for you to:
access your association’s information
update details, and
lodge annual statements.
Consumer Affairs Victoria will release further information and instructions in the coming months. More information about myCAV is available here.
Changes To The Way You Pay Fees
Consumer Affairs Victoria will soon stop accepting cheques for incorporated association transactions, including annual statements.
This reflects Australia’s decision to phase out cheques, as well as ensuring we use more secure payment options.
Associations can also currently pay fees using Visa or Mastercard (credit or debit card). We will soon introduce BPAY as another new way for associations to pay fees.
For more information on BPAY, secure payments and information protection, please contact your bank or financial institution.
If your association currently uses cheques as its only form of payment, please take this time to plan ahead and start exploring new payment options.

Liquor Licence Signage Compliance Check for Clubs
Is your club displaying the correct liquor licence signage
Liquor Control Victoria have made mandatory changes to required signage for licenced premises. (as of July 2023)
Licensees are required by law to display signage (posters/notices) around licenced premises, with information clearly visible to the public. Premises who do not display the correct signage may be fined over $900 (liquor licence breaches)
Clubs can view the information and download the updated signage here.
