Insights From Supporting Regional Clubs Research Interim Report
Throughout the months of August, September and early October 2021, the Valley Sport team worked in partnership with Regional Sport Victoria and seven other Regional Sports Assemblies to undertake surveys with local sporting clubs, leagues and associations to understand the issues facing community sport and recreation. The findings of these surveys highlight the current mood of grassroots, community-based sport and recreation as they face the task of operating in a “COVID-normal” society. From 400 surveys the following was uncovered:
37% of respondents stated COVID-19 uncertainty is their major concern
14% are most concerned about membership retention
12% were concerned with a lack of volunteers
17% had serious concerns for the mental health of their members

Current Restrictions: From 11:59pm Thursday 18 November 2021
For the physical recreation and community sport sector this means:
Venue caps and density quotients no longer apply at physical recreation premises (indoors and outdoors) with vaccination requirements applying to staff and patrons older than 12 years and 2 months
For community sport the vaccination requirements do not apply in relation to any indoor space or outdoor space in a physical recreation premises if that space is being operated only for the purpose of conducting a community sport activity.
Community sport is still required to have COVID Check-in Marshals to record attendance at the venue.
COVID Check-in Marshals are not required for unstaffed gyms and fitness centres however pre-registration of members is required to ensure facilities are only accessed by fully vaccinated people
Unstaffed outdoor physical recreation premises do not require COVID Check-in Marshals and are exempt from the vaccination requirements (e.g. an unstaffed tennis club).

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence begins on 25 November and ends on 10 December. Respect Victoria will run the Respect Women: ‘Call It Out’ campaign during this period. Together, we can continue to progress gender equality, support better outcomes for women, girls and gender diverse people, and change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to gender based violence – to stop it before it starts. Get Active Kids Vouchers help eligible families get their children involved in organised sport and active recreation activities by reimbursing the cost of membership and registration fees, uniforms, and equipment. Renew Your Liquor Licence - Payment Due In Full By 31 December 2021
The VCGLR is moving the renewal process to digital. Renewal notices and liquor licences with now be sent via email. If you don't create a Liquor Portal account, you'll receive your renewal notice by post. You'll still need to ensure your postal address contact details are up to date or you run the risk of missing your annual renewal notice leading to non-payment of your licence.
Renewal notices are issued each year from late November with payment due in full by 31 December irrespective of when the licence was granted. Each licence incurs a separate fee. Several factors determine how much you are required to pay. For information on licence fees see: Liquor fees and fines 1 July 2021
To receive your annual renewal notice via email, you'll need to register a Liquor Portal account, associate your licence and sign-up for eLicence. Payment options are listed on the renewal notice. Once payment is made, your liquor licence will be emailed within five working days ready to print and display at the licensed venue. For more information, please click here

Accidental Counsellor Training Accidental Counsellor Training is on this Monday 29 November 2021 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM.Valley Sport have identified Accidental Counsellor training as a valuable way to teach club members how to effectively deal with difficult conversations and support others.The Accidental Counsellor Workshop provides the techniques and strategies to enable participants to successfully support those who are distressed, upset or generally requiring emotional support. The workshop is being subsidised by Valley Sport and is aimed at Committee Members, Volunteers, Coaches and Club Members. The Country Football and Netball ProgramThe Country Football and Netball Program provides funding to assist regional football and netball clubs, associations and umpiring organisations to upgrade and develop facilities in rural, regional and outer metropolitan locations. Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant ProgramThe Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program provides grants to assist Aboriginal Victorians to participate in Aboriginal sporting carnivals, buy sports uniforms and equipment, as well as funding for travel and accommodation expenses for athletes to compete in state and national competitions.The program has three categories:Category 1 - Aboriginal Sporting Carnivals: Grants up to $1,500 for travel and accommodation costs for teams to participate in State-wide or National Carnivals.
Category 2 - Uniforms or Equipment: Grants of up to $1,000 for individuals, teams, clubs and associations to purchase sporting uniforms and/or equipment.
Category 3 - Athlete Participation Support: Grants of up to $750 for athletes and coaches to assist with travel and accommodation costs to compete or train in regional, state and national competitions or representative teams.Closes: 10 December 2021. Sporting Club Grants ProgramThe Sporting Club Grants Program provides funding for grassroots sport and active recreation clubs and organisations across Victoria.Funding categories are:
Category 1 - Uniforms or Equipment: Grants of up to $1,000
Category 2 - Skill Development:
Grants of up to $2,000 for clubs or organisations, or up to $5,000 for leagues, associations or organisations that collaborate with multiple organisations.
Category 3 - Operational Capacity: Grants up to $5,000 for clubs or organisations.
Clubs and organisations attempting to grow as sports and active recreation leaders, require support and development to explore new opportunities, or improve their effectiveness within their communities.

Significant Sporting Events Program The Significant sporting events program helps sporting, community and event organisations to deliver significant sporting events in Victoria. Community Motorsport ProgramThe Community Motorsport Program is the Victorian Government’s first dedicated motorsport investment program that provides grant opportunities through two funding categories:
The Motorsport Club Assistance Category
The Infrastructure Upgrades and Equipment Category
Applicants may submit applications to multiple streams but can only receive a maximum combined grant amount of $20,000.

Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant ProgramThe Emergency Sporting Equipment Grant Program helps Victorian sport and active recreation community organisations replace Essential Sports Equipment that has been lost or destroyed as a consequence of unpreventable and exceptional events such as fire, flood, significant storms, theft or criminal damage.
Grants of up to $2,000 (excluding GST) are available towards the replacement cost of the lost or damaged equipment that is owned by the applicant organisation.

This Grants program supports not-for-profit community groups and organisations, and Committees of Management within the Murrindindi Shire to meet governance requirements, develop new skills and build capacity. This includes activities that improve the ability to operate effectively, undertake future planning and support sustainability. Up to $2,000 is available.Closes: 4pm, on the last Wednesday of every month. Quick Response GrantsThe overall purpose of the grants program is to provide a funding scheme that strengthens the involvement of community organisations in the development of services, management of facilities, events, arts and culture, tourism, promotion of health, supply of equipment, promotion of environmental sustainability and infrastructure in the community. Quick Response Grants of up to $1,000 are open all year round. Strathbogie Shire Council's Sponsorship ProgramThe Sponsorship Program incorporates funding opportunities for events that compliment the focus areas identified as priorities for the Strathbogie Shire Council.Sponsorship requests of and above $1,000 and up to $5,000 are available.Applications are ongoing.
