Grant Smarts | PLANNED, PROACTIVE, PROGRESS 💡

Valley Sport is thrilled to announce the launch of Grant Smarts, a program aimed at making the grant application process less daunting for clubs. We understand that seeking grants can be overwhelming, with challenges such as identifying suitable opportunities, comprehending guidelines, and effectively presenting your project. Crafting a successful grant application requires a diverse range of skills, including budgeting and project management, along with a wealth of information to build a compelling application.

Program information:

  • Limited spots so be quick to sign up!

  • Valley Sport only charge a one off fee, we DO NOT take any percentage or cut of any successful grants you may secure whilst working with us!

  • This program is designed to educate, upskill, and build your confidence in applying for grants.

  • Valley Sport will work with you to help you identify your funding needs and projects, pulling together a plan that will ensure you are Planned, Proactive and making Progress.

  • We will support you (one on one) and your clubs action plan for 12 months!

  • Through workshop learnings and one on one monthly support meetings, this program will consist of one on one time reviewing grant applications, guiding you through the application processes and assisting you with any questions or queries you have with your application/s.

  • There is no limit on the amount of grants you can apply for, our role is to simply upskill you and guide you along the way as you build your skillsets.

New Strategic Planning Services Launched

Valley Sport is pleased to announce the addition of an exciting new feature to our strategic planning services. In addition to our long standing five-year plans, we are delighted to introduce one-year strategic plans that can be tailored to the specific needs of sports clubs.

Our new one-year plans are designed for clubs that excel in many areas of club operations but require concentrated efforts in a particular key area.

Clubs Encouraged to Get On The Front Foot

‘On the Front Foot’ is a free mental health development program designed by Valley Sport in collaboration with Rachael Willis, Principal Clinical Psychologist at Pure Empowerment.

On the Front Foot is a 60-minute workshop designed for local community sports clubs like yours. Whether in-person or online, this workshop will equip you with the skills and confidence to support not just yourself but others who may be facing mental health challenges.

Inclusive Sporting Clubs Information Evening

Inclusive Sport Come and Try Days

Active Inclusion Sports Days Seymour!!!

Alongside Nexus Primary Health, Mitchell Shire Council & Murrindindi Shire Council we are excited to bring a free 6 week come and try multisport program for people with a disability.

There will be a range of sports to try over the 6 weeks which offers a great opportunity to learn what sports are inclusive for people with a disability. Spare wheelchairs will be available for people with mobility issues who don’t own a wheelchair. These wheelchairs may also be available for able-bods to have a go at wheelchair basketball and netball.

Mandatory Changes To Liquor Licence Signage

Liquor Control Victoria have made mandatory changes to required signage for licenced premises.

Licensees are required by law to display signage (posters/notices) around licenced premises, with information clearly visible to the public. Premises who do not display the correct signage may be fined over $900 (liquor licence breaches)

Get Active Kids Voucher Program

The Get Active Kids Voucher Program is now open! Get in quick as applications for a voucher will close when the allocation has been exhausted.

If your family or child has a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, you may be eligible for up to $200 to put towards the cost of your child’s participation in sport and active recreation activities.

Important Dates:

  • Round 7 open to apply for a voucher or reimbursement: 10:00 am Tuesday, 10 October 2023 until allocation exhausted

  • Reimbursement dates: from 8 May 2023 until allocation is exhausted

  • Vouchers expiry date: Tuesday, 30 April 2024.

The Get Active Kids Voucher Program helps eligible families get their kids involved in organised sport and active recreation activities by providing financial support for the cost of membership and registration fees. Eligible children may be able to receive up to $200 each.

Special consideration also applies for children residing in care services, as well as temporary or provisional visa holders, undocumented migrants, or international students.

Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund

The Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund (ACIF) provides funding for community cricket facility projects, with a focus on growing participation and promoting greater access for all.

  • Improve the quantity, quality, innovation and consistency of cricket infrastructure across all levels of community cricket 

  • Support the development of community cricket facilities that contribute to the delivery of Australian Cricket’s strategic priorities ((e.g. supporting the attraction and retention of 5-12 year old participants)

  • Support cricket facility development in areas of demand, particularly areas of significant participation and population growth 

  • Create inclusive and accessible environments for cricket participants and the broader community

  • Collaborate with all levels of government and funding partners to invest in strategic infrastructure priorities 

The program has two funding categories: 

  • Minor $1000 - $15,000

  • Major $15,001 - $40,000 

AFL Strategic Community Investment Fund

The Strategic Community Investment Fund (SCIF) is designed to financially assist initiatives that can support Community Clubs affiliated to AFL Victoria in three key strategic areas:

  • Grow and assist volunteer capacity.

  • Grow and diversify participation.

  • Improve club environments and player experiences.

Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Improving club financial practices such as upgrading from manual cash handling to electronic POS processes

  • Subsidies for training and playing uniform and boots, registration and membership, up to $750 per player, etc

  • Safety netting behind the goal posts
